Corinne shared these with Mom, when Mom told her that she had to have words with Dad. Corinne felt the need to ask if these were the words Mom was going to use.

Corinne has developed that fine female characteristic of believing "it is always the man's fault".

"ALL the seasons are my favorite!"

If only we all had Corinne's enthusiasm for life. After seeing the first hard frost of the season and being so excited she announced: "That means it's almost winter...I LOVE winter!".

Then I had to ask her if winter is her favorite season...

"Why do they say 'minnow' in ABCDEFG?"

Apparently Corinne mistook the letters "MNO" in the alphabet to mean a small fish.

Mom thinks this to be one of her cutest lines.

She's TOO big! Before/After Preschool

"Don't worry Mommy...I won't miss you."

This is one I am sure never to forget.

As I was breaking the news to Corinne that she would be attending full-day kindergarten, I told her that I would miss her. She tried to comfort me the best she could (picture her hand on my shoulder, and a serious expression on her face when she told me the above).

Truthfully, I am happy. She was trying to tell me that she will do fine when I send her out into the world. And I believe it.

"I'm glad I didn't do THAT!"

Corinne, who always has a "nose for trouble" was happy that she did not do what her friend James did: he opened a pack of gum at the grocery checkout, put a piece in his mouth and put the pack back on the rack. After seeing not only the reprimand from the matronly check out lady, but the wrath (and accompanying penance) of his Mother, Corinne looked at me and said the above.

(probably up until she saw the trouble, she had wished she had done that.)

As Corinne headed out the door...

Dad: "Remember, beauty is more than skin deep." [Context is moot.]
Corinne: [In quick retort] "Noitisn't. Byebye"

"...I used to be 3"

After informing her dentist that she is 4 and not yet 5, Corinne took a long pause and stated the above information so that there was no question as to how she is progressing age-wise.

"When me & Nick got married, we had oysters. For vegtables we had hot peppers. I kind of liked it back then."

I wish I could make this stuff up...

Corinne describes her grandfather perfectly...

Corinne made a "good deeds" calendar in school, for the month of December. The good deed of the day was to tell someone "I'm sorry". I don't think that this is what they had in mind.

At pre-school, Corinne was given the task of cutting out a drawing she drew. As she raised the picture to be cut, but just prior to raising it to position that would break the line-of-sight between her and her teacher, she let her teacher know where she could find her...

"Nick invited me into his room...ONLY FOR RUDENESS!"

Corinne loves her big brother, and is especially happy when he invites her into his room to "keep him company" in the morning. However, she is very clear about her aversion to being treated badly.

"Well, then what do you call a BIG accident?"

After Corinne described a situation** as a "little accident" Daddy responded that it did not sound like a "little accident".

** Corinne filled the entire bathroom floor with VERY soapy water.

"But, I don't see you on the computer."

I was speaking to Corinne on the phone but she had been used to seeing me on the computer via a video conference using Skype. So, while on the phone, Corinne looked to the computer to see me.

"Why does Daddy have hair sticking out of his nose, and we don't?"

"There's something wrong about not being Spring...

Corinne's global warming (or El nino) observation. It is a very bright, (and rare) sunny, 45 degree January day today and Corinne is confused.  Without any winter snow, she is anxious to open up her new super-delux pack of bubbles and 6 (!) bubble making wands, something reserved for doing outdoors when Spring arrives.

Growing Brachiosaurus; Declared the BEST Christmas Present of '06

Both Nick and Corinne consider this present the best of Christmas of '06. They each got one of these coloring books in their stockings. The $4 coloring books contain 3 tiny dinosaurs that expand (or engorge, as Nick likes to say) in water over a 3 day period.

The disappointing discovery is the rate at which they shrink after taken out of the water...

It is amazing to see Corinne's reaction to a blue lolly pop after a haircut.
